Social media according to the book, The New Rules of Marketing and PR, refers to it as a place where people and companies can share and post videos, news, ideas, and photos. Some major sites of social media that are popular today are Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, etc. If you break the term “social media” down, social refers to the interaction with other people by sharing information and receiving information. Media refers to the instrument of communication, such as in this case the internet, or a more “old fashion” example, TV, radio, or newspaper.
Social networking is the practice of expanding of a person’s business or social contacts by either connecting through individuals or in our case through social media sites such as Facebook or LinkedIn. Connecting with people on these sites may lead to a future job and it is an easy way to get your own brand out there for employees to see.
